Bartending services

Bartending services
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mill Creek MetroParks' board members voted to change the general rules and regulations for patrons serving alcohol at the Davis Center.
The parks board lists 32 caterers from which those renting the facility can choose to cater functions at the center. Now patrons must also look to that list of 32 approved caterers in selecting a bartender. All 32 caterers offer bartending services.
Board members said no specific occurrences led to the change, but that it was needed for liability and safety reasons. They said the change should not be an added cost to those renting the center.

Settlement reached
LORDSTOWN -- Village leaders have agreed to settle a federal lawsuit against the Trumbull County sanitary engineer's office and county commissioners.
Council passed legislation Monday to settle the suit, filed in May. Details of the agreement are not being released pending approval by the commissioners and a federal judge overseeing the case.
Lordstown officials had asked for more than $1.2 million, contending village taxpayers paid for a sanitary sewer system for the past 11 years, then the sanitary engineer and commissioners charged tap-in fees to village residents to use it.
The suit said the tap-in fees were used to extend sewer lines to other areas of the county.
