SPECIAL EVENTS, SEASONS, ETC.
A 10-week course on safe gun handling and .22-caliber position rifle shooting will be offered to youths 12 to 17 by the FGV Cougars Junior Rifle Team. Classes will be conducted by NRA-certified coaches at the Fish and Game Club of Vienna, state Route 193 across from the Youngstown Municipal Airport. The initial meeting will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 15 with the course running Mondays through Nov. 17. All equipment is provided. There is a $10 fee for the first night and a $5 weekly fee thereafter. Copies of "The Junior Shooting Handbook" will be distributed for $6. Participants are required to have an adult sponsor with them at the first meeting. United States Power Squadron boating course: 5-week course runs Thursdays starting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct its annual 13-week boating skills and seamanship course starting January 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hubbard High School. There will be a nominal fee for the course book and work book.
