CAMPBELL -- George Malactaris' extra-point kick in the third overtime lifted Campbell Memorial past Struthers 41-40 Friday at John Knapick Field.
Malactaris' game-winning kick capped quarterback Rick Quinn's 10-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Raseta that tied the game at 40-40.
Malactaris was carried off the field in the second quarter when he was roughed after Campbell's first score, but returned to connect on the game-tying kick with just 35 seconds to play in regulation.
He made all three extra point attempts in overtime.
"George Malactaris showed why he was an all-state kicker," said Campbell coach John Ryan. "He sucked it up and came back to help us win the game."
Wilaj gives 'Cats lead
Struthers running back Adam Wilaj gave the Wildcats the lead in the third overtime with a 2-yard touchdown run, but the kick sailed wide right.
Campbell took over and earned a first and goal on the 10 after the Wildcats were flagged for pass interference. Quinn then found Raseta for the game-tying touchdown, and Malactaris won it with the extra point kick.
"The last two weeks, Ricky Quinn has been great," Ryan said. "He is like a coach on the field, telling five guys what to do on each play."
Quinn had 5 TD passes
Quinn completed just seven of 15 passes for 83 yards with one interception, but five of his passes were for touchdowns. Tee Hymes added 103 yards rushing on 18 carries as Campbell (2-2) had 300 yards of total offense.
The Red Devils also turned the ball over four times -- three on fumbles.
Struthers quarterback Tim Zetts hit of eight of 13 passes for 103 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Zetts also scored one rushing touchdown.
Adam Wilaj had 70 yards rushing on 11 attempts to pace the Wildcats (2-2), who had 249 yards of total offense.
Struthers lost two fumbles and had three turnovers.
Trailing 20-13 with 6:36 to play in the game Campbell took over after a Wildcat punt at its own 48. The Red Devils drove 52 yards in 13 plays, with Quinn hitting David Garcia with a 10-yard touchdown pass on a fourth-and-6 play with just 36 seconds to play in regulation.
'Cats strike first in OT
Zetts hit Dave Allen on the first play of overtime for Struthers for a 27-20 lead, then after Hymes rambled for 18 yards on the first Campbell play, Aaron McGuire scored a 2-yard touchdown to send the game into the second overtime.
Campbell had the ball first in the second overtime, and Quinn hit Will Simon with a 15-yard scoring strike to give the Red Devils their first lead. Struthers answered as Zetts scored on a fourth-down play from the 1 to tie the game at 34.
"I had a flashback to a game when I was quarterback at Boardman and we played Mooney," Ryan said. "The pass to Simon was just like one we did in that game."
Struthers had 15 first downs while Campbell had 20. Struthers had 39 attempts for 146 yards on the ground, and Campbell finished with 48 carries for 217.
