LIBERTY -- The public is invited to attend the annual meeting of the Erie-Lackawanna Historical Society on Friday and Saturday at the Holiday Inn-Metroplex.
The 1,300-member society was founded in 1973 to preserve the railroad's documents. Presentations will include such subjects as company history, model trains and what it was like to work for the company. The company merged with Conrail in 1976.
Tickets are $30 for nonmembers for the two days and $25 for the Saturday dinner.

Library plans workshopon beating college costs
HOWLAND -- The free "Nine Ways to Beat the High Cost of College" workshop will be held from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Howland Public Library, 9095 E. Market St.
The speaker is college-funding adviser Dennis B. Cunningham, who will discuss ways to increase financial-aid eligibility, finding and applying for need-based scholarships, grants and low-interest loans and picking colleges that offer financial aid packages.

Road construction to causeI-79, I-80 traffic delays
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Motorists using Interstates 79 and 80 in Mercer County can expect traffic delays Monday through Friday because of road reconstruction.
Westbound I-80 near Grove City will have one lane closed. Both northbound and southbound Interstate 79 will be restricted to one lane in the same area.
The interstates cross each other in Mercer County, and there will be other delays because of ramp closures at the interchange Thursday and Friday.
The I-79 lane restrictions will occur just south of the Grove City exit and at the Crawford County line.
The I-80 restrictions will occur between mileposts 18 and 20.
