Youngstown NAACP plans banquet Oct. 10

GIRARD -- The Youngstown Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will sponsor its annual Freedom Fund Banquet Oct. 10 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St.
The keynote speaker will be Jomo Bellard, national youth and college division assistant director of NAACP. The theme, "Freedom Under Fire," underscores the challenges facing communities of color across the country. The NAACP encourages civil rights leaders, volunteers, policy makers and corporations to share models for civil rights advocacy to strengthen communities.
The banquet will get under way at 7 p.m. at the club.
