Reception held to honor Kohanovs on 50th anniversary
XAUSTINTOWN -- The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Kohanov of Austintown was celebrated Sept. 6 during a reception held in their honor at Lucianno's Restaurant.
Invitations for the event were issued by their family, Elizabeth Kohanov and Phillip and Rebecca Kohanov, all of Fort Gration, Mich. There are three grandchildren in the family.
Mr. Kohanov and the former Olga Petunoff were married Sept. 6, 1953, at Nativity of Christ Church, Youngstown, where they are members.
The couple received a congratulatory message from the President and Mrs. Bush.
Prior to her marriage Mrs. Kohanov was an executive secretary to the superintendent of personnel relations at Sharon Steel Corp., Lowellville. She is a member of the church sisterhood, and serves as recording secretary for the Eastern Orthodox Women's Society and Austintown Chapter 4339, AARP.
Mr. Kohanov graduated from Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and worked for People Drug stores and was manager of Rite Aid Drug stores, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a registered pharmacist with the U.S. Army at Brooke Army General Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, and in Fontainebleau, France. A veteran of the Korean War, he is a member of Eastern Ohio Pharmaceutical Association, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Eastern Orthodox Men's Society, and Austintown Chapter 4339, AARP.
