XCOLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- The gardens at College Park Women's Club provided the setting Aug. 16 for the wedding of Miriam Jenell Brown, 4375 Cascade Road, Atlanta, and Benton Orane Lawson, 245 Kenridge Parkway, Decatur, Ga. Iman Plemon El-Amin heard the exchange of vows at 5 p.m. and later the newlyweds received guests during a reception at Camellia Hall.
The bride is a daughter of Dr. Vernan E. Brown, 478 Orchard Grove Ave., East Liverpool, and Lari El-Amin, Riverside, Calif. The groom is a son of Evelyn Lawson Mighty of Atlanta and the late Michael Lawson.
The couple honeymooned at Montego Bay, Jamaica, and live at the groom's address.
A beaded bodice highlighted the bride's Italian-style designed with a cathedral train.
Mrs. Lawson earned a bachelor's degree at Clark-Atlanta University and a master's at Georgia State University, both Atlanta. She is a microbiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
Mr. Lawson graduated from Georgia State with bachelor's and master's degrees. A molecular geneticist, he is employed by Georgia State.
Rabbinah Abdur-Rahman of Atlanta was honor attendant and wore a lavender dress. Flower girl was Briane Ali of Atlanta.
The groom's uncle, Trevor Tomlinson of Kingston, Jamaica, performed the duties of best man. Ushers were the bride's brothers, Andre Brown of East Liverpool and Ibrahim El-Amin, Oskir El-Amin and Mohammed El-Amin, all of Riverside.
