Installation rites set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Alpha and Omega First Baptist Church will have installation services for the Rev. Henry L. McNeil on Sept. 21. There will be presentations and guest vocalists at both the 10:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. services. The Rev. William C. Bunton of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Akron, will deliver the message at the 4 p.m. installation service. The Rev. Mr. McNeil has served at served at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dennison since 1996.
New pastor named
CANFIELD -- The Rev. Donald Hall will begin work Monday as the new rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Services will be at 8 and 10 a.m. Sept. 21 with a potluck dinner after the second service.
The Rev. Mr. Hall is a graduate of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. He received master's degrees in social work and public administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master of arts in theology from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Md.
Mr. Hall is a licensed social worker in Pennsylvania who has served as executive director of both social-service and mental-health agencies. His wife, Mary Theresa, is an associate professor of English at Thiel College.
Groundbreaking set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 7 S. Garland Ave., Youngstown, will have a groundbreaking service for its new sanctuary at 2 p.m. Sept. 21 diagonally across the street from the current church at the corner of Garland and Himrod avenues.
The church has raised approximately $280,000 over five years. The construction, the first of two phases, will include offices, boardrooms, and a handicap-accessible sanctuary that will seat 600 people. The second phase will include the church's family life center, which provides community outreach services. Call (330) 746-7190.
Gospel music concert
HUBBARD -- Chestnut Ridge Church of God will present the gospel group Squire Parsons Trio at 6 p.m. Sept. 28. Squire Parsons is a prolific songwriter who has won multiple music nominations and awards. Seating is limited to 340 people. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for four or more in a family. Marriage seminar
BOARDMAN -- A seminar for engaged and married couples, "Moo'ving in the Right Directions," will be from 9 to 5 p.m. Oct. 4. at Trinity Fellowship Church. New service begins
POLAND -- An open worship service will be at 2 p.m. on the last Sunday of each month at Sunrise Assisted Living, 335 McKinley Way, Poland. The first meeting will be Sept. 28. The Rev. Dr. D. Larry Kline, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown, will deliver the message. There will be music, hymns, prayer and fellowship.
Writers seminar
CANTON -- The Malone College School of Continuing Studies will present a Christian writers seminar and retreat Oct. 10-11. The conference aims to equip people for ministry as writers and show them how to get their works published. The conference presenter is author Marlene Bagnull, director of the Colorado Christian Writers' Conference and the founder and director of the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers' Conference.
