SALEM -- The Salem Humane Society is inviting the public to a fund-raiser from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Sept. 20 at the Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Road, near Salem. Dinner, dancing and entertainment will be provided. Cost is $20 per person in advance and $25 at the door. For tickets, call the humane society at (330) 332-2600 from 8 to 10 a.m. weekdays.
Boil-water order ends
AUSTINTOWN -- The Youngstown Water Department has lifted boil orders for residents on Carnegie Avenue between Four Mile Run Road and North Wickliffe Circle and on Westminster Drive between Maple Drive and North Wickliffe Circle. Residents had been asked to boil their water earlier this week after a water main had been shut off to allow for the installation of a culvert. Water samples have been found to be free of contamination.
