Family gathering held to celebrate Kiriazis 55th



XAUSTINTOWN -- Dr. and Mrs. James W. Kiriazis, 444 Westgate Blvd., observed their 55th wedding anniversary during a family luncheon Sept. 7 at their home.
Hosts were their children, James Kiriazis, Karen Kiriazis, Lisa Kiriazis and Laura Kiriazis, all of Youngstown, and five grandchildren.
The former Isabel Fernandez and Dr. Kiriazis were married Sept. 4, 1948.
Mrs. Kiriazis, a homemaker, earned a degree in social work at Youngstown State University. She is an artist and has exhibited her works throughout the state.
Dr. Kiriazis served as a department head in social work, sociology and anthropology for 22 years at Youngstown State University. He is a chairman and professor emeritus at YSU and was a research professor at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown, and still is associated with both on a part-time basis. Dr. Kiriazis also worked at mental health clinics. He served with the 82nd Parachute Airborne Division.
The couple have taken part in various anthropological field trips.
They are members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown.
