BOARDMAN -- Two Youngstown juveniles accused of assaulting a woman and stealing her car have been arrested and charged by police.
Darrin Lemont Moore, 17, of McGuffey Road, and Robert Gibson, 17, of Francesca Avenue, have been charged with felony aggravated robbery, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and assault. Both are being held in the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.
According to Detective Sgt. Steve Riwniak, an 18-year-old Lisbon woman pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 200 block of Mathews Road to visit friends just before 3 a.m. Tuesday. A second car pulled into the parking lot behind the woman, he said, and as she got out of her 2003 Dodge Neon, two males, wearing hooded sweat shirts and rubber gloves, approached her with a small handgun.
Riwniak said the males took the woman's money and car keys and demanded she get into the back seat of her car. Police said the sexual imposition charges are being filed because the males attempted to undo some of the woman's clothing and fondled her.
Assault reported
Riwniak said that after the woman refused to get into the car, one of the males hit her in the head with the gun and kicked her. The woman screamed and ran, and the males took off in her car, Riwniak said.
The Pontiac Bonneville the males drove into the parking lot was left behind. Riwniak said that car was later reported stolen.
Police said Moore was arrested later Tuesday afternoon after leading them on a chase through Youngstown and various parts of Trumbull County. Police said he jumped out of the car and ran, but they caught him in a back yard on East Liberty Street in Hubbard.
Gibson was arrested at his home Thursday evening. Police said information gathered in the investigation led to that arrest.
