YSU's 9/11 observance to include music and reading of victims list
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Sept. 11 memorial observation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Lariccia Family International Student Lounge in Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.
The event with include the YSU Color Guard, a moment of silence, remarks by Student Government President Emily Eckman and the presentation of Terry Lynch Scholars. Lynch, a YSU graduate, died in the attack on the Pentagon.
Other features planned are remarks by the Rev. Kathryn Adams of Protestant Campus Ministry and the Rev. John Keener of Catholic Campus Ministry and a musical selection by student Robinette Cotton. There will be a reading of the 9/11 victims list. And anyone who wishes to make remarks will be welcomed to do so.
"It is open to anyone who wants to commemorate the events of 9/11 or to demonstrate their respect for the men and women in the military who are fighting the war on terrorism," said William Blake, YSU student activities director. "Everyone is welcome."
YSU students, faculty, staff and members of the general public who want to speak must contact Blake at (330) 941-3779 to be placed on the agenda.
