Fogg, Pirates sink Reds, 9-1

It marked the second straight complete game for the Bucs.
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Josh Fogg's 10-hitter against Cincinnati was more than just his first career complete game -- it gave him bragging rights over one of his teammates.
Fogg went the distance, striking out nine and walking none, to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Reds 9-1 Monday night.
It was Pittsburgh's second complete game in a row, but Kip Wells' was only eight innings in a 2-1 loss to Atlanta on Sunday.
"I'll have to make sure to tell him that his was eight and mine was nine," Fogg said. "It's a friendly rivalry, but it helps push you."
Wilson homers twice
Craig Wilson homered twice for the Pirates, and Fogg (9-8) improved to 3-0 in his career, and this season, against the Reds. He threw 113 pitches -- 80 strikes -- and fell just one strikeout short of his career high.
"The young man threw a good game," Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon said. "He had an exceptional changeup tonight. He's a touch-and-feel pitcher, and he stays out of the middle of the plate."
The Pirates improved to 6-0 this season at Great American Ball Park and have won seven in a row in Cincinnati for the first time since May 31-Sept. 26, 1937.
Wilson had three hits and tied his career high with four RBIs.
Fogg was relieved to finally go the distance. He fell two outs short of a complete game in a 12-9 win at Tampa Bay on June 14.
"I threw a lot of strikes, and I was able to move my cutter in and out -- front door to right-handers, back door to left-handers," Fogg said. "The defense played great. Winning 9-1 makes it easier, too."
Reds starter John Bale (1-2) allowed six hits, but three were home runs. He walked one and struck out three in six innings.
Wilson led off the second with his 13th homer -- and second in four games -- to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead. But Bale retired the next 11 in a row and 12 of 13.
The Reds used three consecutive one-out hits to snap a 17-inning scoreless streak and tie it in the fifth.
Eric Valent singled, moved to third on Jason LaRue's single down the left-field line, then scored on Wily Mo Pena's double.
"Feast or famine -- that's probably the best way to put it," Reds manager Dave Miley said. "We had some doubles. Wily Mo's swinging it well. That's a definite bright spot."
Pirates regain lead
The Pirates regained the lead with a four-run sixth. Jeff Reboulet hit a leadoff single, Tike Redman doubled and Jason Kendall had a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1. After Redman was out at the plate on Reggie Sanders' grounder, Wilson hit his second homer of the game to put the Pirates up 4-1. Rookie Jason Bay followed with his second homer of the season.
Both of Wilson's homers came with two strikes.
"The only thing I've changed is I spread my feet a little more," he said. "I'm just trying to hit the ball hard. If I strike out, I strike out. It gives me a little more balance up there."
