Who says the fair isn't something to crow about?
Who says the fair isn'tsomething to crow about?
EDITOR:
In response to the letter about pulling the plug on the Canfield Fair: Are you positive that you attended the fair this year? I thoroughly enjoyed the fair rain or shine.
My children were asked to show a cow in which they received a Showmanship Trophy and a milk chug. Many children participated in this event, and no child was turned away. Every child received a trophy. Also, we milked a cow and watched the cows at the milking parlor.
My family and I and my cousins who traveled from Florida to camp for the six-day event attended the Bicentennial Bell ceremony where all the veterans were honored and everyone had a chance to ring the Mahoning County bell. A 4-H member myself at one time, I walked through the 4-H barns and there were fairgoers everywhere. The horse racing, the pony palace, the antique tractors and the rabbit and chicken barn most certainly deal with agriculture.
If you missed the Canfield Fair, then you definitely missed a wonderful event on Labor Day weekend. I have attended the Canfield Fair for 36 years and will continue to attend all six days rain or shine. It is the best county fair in the country and something to crow about!

Judge Lisotto should stepaside as DUI case is handled
EDITOR:
Judge Lisotto to me seems to not get the point that thousands of innocent people's lives are cut short and family destroyed because of drunken drivers. He cites it only as "a stupid thing" that happens to people sometime. But county judges are held to a higher standard like star athletes or other high-profile people and they should simply know better. So we'd think.
The MADD organization should be outraged, and bombard his office with letters of disapproval and in my opinion he should not be allowed to continue to hear and rule on cases until after his case is disposed of. Consider this: A star athlete from the Mahoning Valley allegedly lied to campus police, accepted improper benefits and misled investigators. He gets kicked off the team. For the entire season, his face is plastered on every major TV station and on front of every sports page. And he's also given the harshest punishment one can imagine.
But a county judge accused of DUI can remain on the bench, continue to hear and rule on cases before him to me is totally ludicrous -- especially already knowing the pain and suffering drunk drivers have caused. The very act itself is more criminal than any misconduct by a college freshman football standout who has had the rule book of the NCAA thrown at him for the "stupid things" he's done.

Best course for America:Send Bush back to Texas
EDITOR:
It is interesting to note that there are too many people in America like the letter writer from Boardman praising Dubya for his honesty!
Evidently, she missed the news stories on the Niger letter, the ability of the drones to strike America, the 45-minute capability of biochem weapons launches, the mobile biochem laboratories, Saddam backing Osama; the list could go on ad nauseam. Bush lied to the American people for revenge and oil. Additionally, how many campaign promises has he broken -- like the No Child Left Behind fiasco?
All the problems she highlighted in her letter have come under a Republican-controlled Congress since 1994 (except for the year that Sen. Jeffords first regained his sanity). But, unlike Dubya, the economy didn't go into the tank under Bubba!
I, too, am proud to be an American. I served 20 years in the Navy, so I know something of what our troops are being forced to endure in Iraq. The best thing that could happen to America would be for Dubya to go back to Crawford, Texas. Permanently!
