YOUNGSTOWN -- City school district residents are invited to participate in any of the nearly 20 focus group meetings this week to help determine the desired characteristics of the district's new superintendent.
A press release issued last week said the community was invited to only two sessions. However, anyone is welcome at hourly sessions that are being held today beginning on the hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (concluding at 4 p.m.) and at 5 and 6 p.m. at the Choffin Career and Technical Center at 200 E. Wood St. There is no noon session.
Hourly forums also will be at Choffin on Wednesday beginning on each hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except the noon hour. The final Wednesday session concludes at 4 p.m.
Superintendent Benjamin L. McGee retires at the end of this school year to pursue a doctorate.
Members of the Hazard, Young, Attea & amp; Associates search firm of Illinois will be conducting the forums as part of a superintendent search. The firm was hired by the board at a cost of $19,000 plus out-of-pocket expenses.
