Planes, helicopterswill drop rabies vaccine
For the eighth year, Ohio health and wildlife officers in low-flying airplanes and helicopters will drop oral rabies vaccine for raccoons in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. The drops will begin Monday.
Dogs or cats will not be harmed by eating a small number of baits, Ohio Health Department officials say.
Touching a bait is not normally harmful to humans, but contact with the red liquid vaccine inside could cause a local infection in some people.
