KEYSTONE CLIPS Performers coming from Ukraine



The 165-member Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will kick off the guest artist series at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Ketler Auditorium of Grove City College's Pew Fine Arts Center.
The group, which is returning for its sixth U.S. concert tour, features folk music with Ukrainian costumes and instruments. It is part of Music Mission Kiev, which provides Christian outreach and ministry to residents of Kiev, Ukraine.
The series continues in the same location with an 8 p.m. Oct. 13 appearance by tenor Douglas Ahlstedt, who has performed 189 times at New York's Metropolitan Opera House and regularly tours the world's opera houses and concert halls.
Also at Ketler Auditorium will be an 8 p.m. Feb. 16 appearance by the Canadian Brass and an 8 p.m. March 24 performance by the West African Dance Company KanKouran.
Tickets are $10 for the public and can be purchased at the college bursar's office on the second floor of Crawford Hall.
Nominations sought
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking for nominations for three new members of the Pennsylvania Recreational Trails Advisory Board, said state Rep. Chris Sainato of New Castle, D-9th.
Sainato said the board consists of representatives of nine types of recreational trail users. Its primary function is to advise DCNR on general trail use throughout Pennsylvania, including the use of federal trails funding.

Tie to Stonewall Jackson
Confederate officer Stonewall Jackson's Mercer County connection will be among the topics discussed as the Mercer County Historical Society's monthly Civil War Roundtable resumes its meetings at 7 p.m. Tuesday at society headquarters at 119 S. Pitt St. in Mercer.
Meetings are open to the public.
