CAMPBELL -- Senior Josh Pastore rushed for 155 yards on 10 carries Friday as the Beaver Local football team pounded Campbell, 58-35.
The Beavers (3-0) ran for 463 yards in the shoot-out at John Knapick Field.
The senior-laden Beavers had Adam Hoppel run for 81 yards on seven carries. Matt Vujaklya tallied 77 yards on four carries all in the first half and quarterback Jake Robinson picked up 75 yards on six carries.
Vujaklya scored the game's first two touchdowns on a 12-yard pass from Robinson and a 34-yard run.
Pastore scored a pair of second half touchdowns on runs of 12 and 60 yards.
"The line blocks well and the yardage is there," Pastore said. "You can't run without holes and our guys up front block hard on every play."
Back in game twice
The Red Devils (1-2) twice got back in the game thanks to the passing combination of senior quarterback Ricky Quinn and sophomore running back Derrel Johnson.
The first was a 36-yarder while the second covered 28 yards on a screen pass.
Quinn was 15 of 28 in the air for 244 yards and Johnson, who also had a 60 yard kickoff return to set up a Campbell score, had 10 grabs for 168 yards.
Quinn tossed three touchdown passes and ran for the Red Devils other two scores .
"Quinn and Johnson perked up our offense, but there were too many missed tackles and you can't have that against a good running team like Beaver Local," Campbell coach John Ryan said.
Beaver Local coach Rick Wright wasn't that satisfied with his team's effort.
"This was a tough place to play and they sure tested our defense, especially with their passing game," Wright said.
