WARREN City will hire police officers to fill vacancies

The city is still trying to increase the number of minority officers on the force.
WARREN -- The city hopes to hire between three and 10 police officers within the next two years.
Gary Cicero, human resources director, said the city has exhausted the current list, meaning there are no more viable names on the list.
"The civil service commission authorized another test," Cicero said.
The department has 78 officers.
Cicero said the city continues to try to increase the number of minority officers in the department.
The test, which consists of written and physical agility sections, is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 27 in the Warren G. Harding High School cafeteria.
Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen between 21 and 34, be a high school graduate or possess a GED and have a valid Ohio driver's license.

Extra credit is available on the written test for those with military service, previous law enforcement experience, or an associate or bachelor's degree with courses in law enforcement or criminal justice.
