Dinner, museum tour
WARREN -- The Navy League of the United States, Western Reserve Council, is having a buffet dinner and private tour of the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. N.W., on Sept. 18.
A cash bar is at 6 p.m. and the dinner is at 7 p.m. The cost is $23 per person.

ADVANCED TRAINING
Master's degree
Gregory A. Magni received a master of arts degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College, Newport, R.I.
Magni, son of Robert Lee and Carol Jean Magni of Poland, is a 1978 graduate of Poland Seminary High School and received a bachelor of science degree in geography from Ohio University in Athens in 1982.
Magni is employed by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), Bethesda, Md., where he works in the Transformation Office.
A former branch chief for the Maritime Safety Division at NIMA, he lives in Myersville, Md.
Phone systems apprentice
Air Force Airman Bertell L. McClendon graduated from the 14-week telephone systems apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. McClendon is the son of Deborah A. McClendon of Youngstown and is a 2000 graduate of Youngstown Chaney High School.
Munitions systems
Air Force Airman Regis J. Graham graduated from the munitions systems apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base. Graham is the son of Charles L. and Debra J. Graham of Ellwood City, Pa., and is a 2002 graduate of Riverside High School, Ellwood City.

Advanced leadership camp
Several area ROTC cadets have graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) National Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis, Wash. They include:
Brandon W. Branca, son of Ralph and Donna Branca of Mercer, Pa. He is a 1999 graduate of Mercer Junior Senior High School and is a student at Edinboro (Pa.) University.
Vito J. Abruzzino, son of John M. and Phyllis M. Abruzzino of Niles. He is a student at West Virginia University, Morgantown.
Eric J. Pahon, son of Kenneth J. and Terri Ann Pahon of Boardman. He is a 1995 graduate of Boardman High School and is a student at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
DEPLOYED
6 months aboard ship
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. James E. Harris, son of Terrie D. and Richard D. Cecil of Youngstown, is on a six-month deployment aboard a ship of the USS Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group.
He is assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Harris is a 1995 graduate of Youngstown Woodrow Wilson High School.
Stationed in Qatar
Air Force Capt. Michael R. Jesson has deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, in Southwest Asia to support the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Jesson, a commander with 10 years of military service, is a son of Robert L. and Jeanne M. Jesson of Cuyahoga Falls.
His wife, Tia, is the daughter of Bruce E. Adams of Homeworth and Linda S. Adams of North Canton. Jesson graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, received a bachelor's degree in 1993 from Kent State University and earned his master's degree in 2003 from Central Michigan University.
PROMOTIONS
First lieutenant
Air Force 1st Lt. Lori A. Pluchinsky, former English teacher at Columbiana High School, was promoted to her present rank while assigned as chief of personnel career enhancements for the Office of Special Investigations Headquarters at Andrews Air Force Base, Md.
Pluchinsky, who graduated in 1994 from Poland High School, received a bachelor of science degree in education from Youngstown in 1998, entered the Air Force in 2001 and graduated from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.
Pluchinsky, daughter of Robert E. and Jewel A. Pluchinsky of Poland, is also president of the OSI Company Grade Officers Council in the Washington, D.C., Region.
