Notable players: Several players went on to college careers. Kelton Dansler became an All-American outside linebacker at Ohio State. John Henry Ziegler played for Tony Mason for four seasons -- two at Cincinnati and two at Arizona. Ziegler earned the Ohio Class AAA Back of the Year as a senior, now called Mr. Football. Tyrone Hicks was a junior wingback on the Harding title team. Later he played at Ohio State and won the Big 10 sprint title as a freshman. Quarterback Jim Richburg attended a junior college for two years while fullback Jim Valentine went to Kent State. Tight end Jon Hall was recruited by Lou Holtz to play at North Carolina State where he was a three-year regular. Dr. Anthony Candella was a junior defensive end/tight end on the Panther title team. He was also recruited by Holtz to North Carolina State. Also, tackle Ray Amos received a football scholarship to Iowa State.
