SOCCER Mancini's late goal wins it for Badger



Kyle Arnold scored two goals and had an assist for the Braves.
KINSMAN -- Anthony Mancini scored the winning goal with 11 minutes remaining on an assist from Kyle Arnold, as Badger High edged Bristol 4-3 Thursday in a Northeast Athletic Conference boys soccer game.
Arnold scored two goals, including the one that tied the score at 3 with 28 minutes to go. Arnold's first goal was in the first half as Braves (3-1, 2-0 NAC) trailed 2-1 in at intermission.
Eric Klingemier of Badger scored early in the second half.
Bob Wheelock led the Pirates (2-1-1, 1-1) with two goals. Mike Colley scored the other goal. Jason DeMattia had an assist.
Badger had 23 shots on goal, compared to six for Bristol.
The Panthers' Tim Fike had 19 saves. Josh Gilliland of the Braves had three.
Crestview 7, Chaney 1
COLUMBIANA -- Ken Wagonhouser scored three goals and he had an assist for the Rebels (3-1). James Frost tallied two goals and he had two assists. Dusty Weindel had a goal and an assist.
Justin Hilbert scored for Chaney.
Mooney 8, Ursuline 1
STRUTHERS -- Kiki Willis scored four goals for the Cardinals (5-0, 2-0) as Mooney extended its winning streak to 22 games in row.
Christo Frangopoulos, D.J. Myers, Zack Hernan and Sean Sullivan added a goal apiece. Frangopoulos, Dom DiPasquale, Noah Brak and Myers all had an assists.
Chris DePaola scored the goal for Ursuline (1-1) on an assist from Dan Craig.
Mooney had 29 shots on goal, compared to seven for Ursuline.
Jered Daly had 13 saves for the Irish and teammate Dave Patrick had eight. Jeff Seddon of the Cardinals had six.
Howland 3, Salem 1
SALEM -- Jason Stan scored two goals and Mike Maiorana had another for the Tigers (5-1-1, 2-0 Metro Athletic Conference).
Amir Shehabi, Jeff Copp and Malik Mohammad had assists for the Tigers. Zack Roscoe recorded five saves.
For Salem, Brian Swartz scored and goalie Andrew Loudon had 15 saves.
Alliance 2, Canfield 1
ALLIANCE -- Mike Gross and Kyle Grove scored for Alliance (4-1, 2-0 MAC). A.J. Walker and Matt Paidas had assists. Dan Hisey had eight saves.
Canfield's (3-2, 1-1) lone goal came on a penalty kick by senior Matt Pietro midway through the second half. The Cardinals' goalie Karim El Raddaf had 11 saves.
Hubbard 9, Liberty 0
LIBERTY -- Chris Styn scored five goals for the Eagles (2-3, 2-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Hubbard led 4-0 at the break.
Jeremy Hume collected 16 saves for the Leopards (0-5, 0-2).
West Branch 4, United 1
BELOIT -- Keith Moulin, Cory Criss, Rob Kocher and Tom Geiger each scored a goal for the Warriors (3-2-1). Joe Starkey and Criss had an assist apiece.
Ben Stryffler tallied the goal for the Golden Eagles (1-3). Even Egli had 29 saves.
Columbiana 6, Minerva 5
MINERVA -- Barry Kimple scored on a penalty kick with 8:46 remaining to snap a 5-5 tie.
The Lions led 5-2 with 22 minutes to play. From there Eric Birnesser scored three times in 12 minutes to tie it. He finished with all five goals.
Warren JFK 2, Mercer 0
WARREN -- Anthony Olive and Kyle Schimley scored the goals for JFK (5-1). Sal Coppola and Jeff Jenkins each had an assist. Brian Wolnik had seven saves for JFK, while Philip George had eight for Mercer.
Jefferson Chr. 5, Heartland Chr. 1
COLUMBIANA -- Jordan Uhl scored the goal for Heartland Christian (2-1).
Robert Pankus and Matthew Sells each scored two goals for the Jefferson Christian. Phil Hoover tallied the other goal. John Congelio had 13 saves for the Lions.
Girls
CORTLAND -- Sarah Christner scored two goals and assisted on two more to lead Lakeview to a 4-0 win over Liberty.
In the Trumbull Athletic Conference game, Lakeview had more shots on goal, 22 to 1.
Lauren Catugno and Jen Baker scored goals and Baker added an assist for the Bulldogs.
Niles 4, Champion 2
CHAMPION -- Jessica Pallante scored twice to help Niles.
Each team is 3-2.
Ashley Lokash and Sarah Kerns each added a goal for Niles which led 2-1 at the break.
For Champion, Carlie Dawson and Jenna Lee scored.
