SHARON, Pa. -- A public memorial service marking the second anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in city council chambers, Mayor David O. Ryan announced.
Memorial bricks for sale
MERCER, Pa. -- Sept. 16 is the deadline to submit orders for bricks to be inscribed in honor or in memory of someone for inclusion in the Mercer County Courthouse Memorial and Honor Garden.
The memorial and honor gardens are on the north side of the courthouse. Bricks, which will be installed during the week of Oct. 14, can be ordered for $53 each. Call (724) 662-3490 for details.
All proceeds from brick sales will be used to maintain the gardens.
Transportation hearing
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- A public hearing on the 2005 transportation improvement plan, which covers Mercer, Crawford and Venango counties, will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the Hickory VFW Post 6166 and Normandy Banquet Center, 5550 E. State St. Written testimony must be submitted in advance of the hearing, which is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission.
Those wishing to testify orally at the hearing must secure a time on the agenda by calling Anita Everhard at (717) 787-2913.
Fall cruises scheduled
PORTERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Moraine Preservation Fund is sponsoring several events in late September and October.
Its fall dinner cruise will take place at 5 p.m. Sept. 27 aboard the Nautical Nature on Lake Arthur.
A buffet dinner will be provided at a cost of $19.50 for adults and $13.50 for children. Reservations are required.
Fall Foliage Cruises on Lake Arthur also are planned for Sept. 27-28 and every Saturday and Sunday in October. Cruises, which leave at noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m., cost $5.25 for adults and $2.50 for children.
