WARREN CPA pleads guilty to theft
The CPA has agreed to pay $450,000 in restitution and to surrender his license.
WARREN -- A 36-year-old certified public accountant has pleaded guilty to stealing money from his former employer.
Robert P. Mild, of Stewart-Sharon Road, Brookfield, entered the plea Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Andrew Logan said Mild will be sentenced after a background check.
Mild pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated theft, five counts of money laundering and five counts of attempted money laundering.
He has agreed to pay about $450,000 in restitution and to surrender his CPA license, court officials said.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Chuck Morrow, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, agreed to dismiss 12 counts of money laundering and three counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Mild was accused of embezzling more than $650,000 from Kirila Contractors of Brookfield. He was arrested last September and had remained free on a $100,000 bond.
Businessman
Court records state Mild owns several businesses, including Mild Farms, Mild Realty, Stewart Realty, Peas in a Pod Day Care and Cherry Street Day Care.
Deputies said the company noticed the theft in June 2002, after they hired an auditor to review their books. Deputies confiscated Mild's home computer and numerous papers.
Prosecutors said the victims agreed with the plea deal.
