Taste of Girard details
GIRARD -- West Main Street from State Street to Market Street will be closed until 7 a.m. Monday.
The Greater Girard Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Taste of Girard, a gathering of more than 15 area restaurants where people can taste their foods.
The event is from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday with music by First Degree from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Paying for college
HOWLAND -- A free workshop, "Nine Ways to Beat the High Cost of College," will be presented from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in Howland Public Library, 9095 E. Market St.
The workshop, conducted by Dennis B. Cunningham, a college funding adviser, will focus on how to double or triple your eligibility for financial aid, how to find and apply for need-based scholarships, grants and low-interest loans, and how to pick colleges that will give the best financial aid packages.
