Sports fans can depend on ESPN's game site
How important is ESPN to pro sports fans? Imagine a fish trying to live without water.
Having conquered both television and the Internet, the cable sports network is now looking to get its feet wet in the waters of electronic gaming. The recently debuted ESPN Gamer (http://sports.espn.go.com/espngamer/index) provides news, reviews and opinion pieces on the latest sports-related video-game releases. With the ESPN name behind it, how could it lose?
Visitors to the ESPN Gamers site can expect the same quality coverage ESPN provides to professional sports. The site features an exclusive look at individual player ratings for all of the new NFL games including Electronic Arts' popular Madden 2004 and Sega Sports' ESPN NFL Football 2K4. Columnist Matt Wong describes going head-to-head against both the real and virtual Mike Vick in a game of Madden 2004.
The site also includes a message board, a video-game release schedule and breaking news.
Because the site debuted in August, only the pro football, college football and baseball sections of the site are up and running.
