Open reception planned to honor Stratton jubilee
XBOARDMAN -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stratton, 7478 Salinas Trail, will be guests of honor during an open reception planned in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The event will be held Sept. 20 at Bethel Friends Church, 2771 Spitler Road, Poland. The couple will renew their wedding vows during a ceremony at 1:30 p.m., and the reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. They request that gifts be omitted.
Hosts and hostesses for the event will be the couple's children and spouses, Pamela and Jack Lenz of Mercer, Pa.; Bert and Phyllis Stratton of Boardman; and Dale Stratton of Poland.
The former Bassha Lee Keen of DuBois, Pa., and Mr. Stratton were married Sept. 12, 1953, in Salem.
They were members of Evangel Baptist Church for 36 years, where she was the pianist and he was involved in various activities. They are members of Bethel Friends.
Mrs. Stratton worked part time for Sears Roebuck and Co. at Southern Park Mall for 18 years and retired in 1988.
Mr. Stratton, who served eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserves, worked in the engineering field for 33 years and was also self-employed. He is employed part time in the tool department at Sears at Southern Park Mall.
The family circle includes eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
