Hazard-warning switchleads to a recall by GM
DETROIT -- General Motors will recall about 783,000 Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero and Pontiac Grand Am cars to replace hazard-warning switches. This recall involves only those 2000 and 2001 model vehicles built between Feb. 1, 2000, and May 1, 2001.
GM said the vehicles have hazard-warning switches that may malfunction because of exposure to rapid temperature changes and a soldering process. GM has not received any reports of crashes or injuries related to this condition. Dealers will replace the hazard-warning switch at no cost to the customers.
