9/11 survivor to speak
POLAND -- Tom Wagner, a civil engineer who survived two attacks on the World Trade Center, will speak on "In Remembrance of 9/11/01, Faith and Devotion" at 10 a.m. Sunday at Poland Presbyterian Church. The event will kick off the church's fall breakfast club program.
Wagner survived the bombing of the WTC's north tower in 1993. In 2001, his office was on the 64th floor of the center's north tower. Wagner is a deacon at Trinity Reformed Church of North Plainfield, N.J. He feels that God spared him, and has begun speaking at churches.
9/11 memorial service
YOUNGSTOWN -- Wickliffe Christian Church will have a brief prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in observance of the second anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Marriage seminar
CANFIELD -- Old North Church will sponsor "A Weekend to Remember" FamilyLife Marriage Seminar from 6-9:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 25.
The seminar will include topics such as: threats to oneness in marriage, God's purpose for marriage, resolving conflict and responsibilities. The cost is $35 per person, which includes lunch. Late registration after Oct. 3 will cost $40 per person. Call (330) 533-6848.
Music and drama
DEERFIELD -- A dramatic recitation of the Gospel of Mark will be given by Dr. Alan Mosher at 7 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 14 in Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1483 state Route 225, Deerfield. Jennifer Jones Mosher will sing during the services. Dr. and Mrs. Mosher are professors at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University.
Seniors honored
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tabernacle Baptist Church will have a Centennial Celebration honoring senior members age 65 to 102 at 11 a.m. Sept. 14. The theme is "Pillars of History: Living Legends of Faith." The guest preacher, Rev. Miniard Culpepper, is pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Boston.
Stone Soup Sunday
LIBERTY -- Liberty Presbyterian Church, 1451 Churchill-Hubbard Road, is inviting the community to a Stone Soup Sunday lunch Sunday. Worship is at 11 a.m. The lunch is from noon until 1 p.m. The project is based on the children's book "Stone Soup" by Marcia Brown, which tells how individuals contributed what they had to make the soup.
Concert and workshop
BOARDMAN -- St. Luke Parish will present "Break Forth In Song" by Marty Haugen of Eagan, Minn.
Haugen will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 and will lead a workshop "Forming Worship Leaders -- Forming Assemblies" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20. For 20 years, Haugen has presented hundreds of concerts and workshops in North and Central America, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim. He has composed an extensive collection of music for various churches and created more than 30 recordings.
Concert tickets are $10 in advance for adults and $12 at the door, and $5 in advance for children 12 and under and $6 at the door. Workshop tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children. Call (330) 782-9783.

NORTH LIMA -- The Blackwood Gospel Quartet of Knoxville, Tenn., will perform at North Lima Mennonite Church at 7 p.m. Sept. 20. Mark Blackwood, the group's lead singer of the group, won two Grammy awards for recordings he produced for the Blackwood Brothers. A meatloaf dinner will be available from 4:30-6:30 p.m. that day. YOUNGSTOWN -- A satellite seminar "Bringing Up Boys" with practical advice for parents, teachers and others, will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Christ Church Presbyterian.
