* Clarence Darrow was known for more than his passionate defense of a Tennessee teacher who discussed the theory of evolution in his classes. Arguments he made in defense of union activists and other well-known individuals are included in the play "Clarence Darrow," a BackDoor Theatre production opening at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave., Warren. * It's the final day for "Antiques in the Woods," the annual show at the Shaker Woods Festival site, state Route 7 near Columbiana. More than 70 dealers -- including some new faces to Shaker Woods -- will display their collections. Music will be by Salem Jubilee Chorus and Sing-cerely. Classic cars will be on display, and soapmaking will be demonstrated. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., same as Saturday. Admission is $6. Call (330) 482-1980 for details.
* It's also the final day for "Monster Jam Summer Heat," a U.S. Hot Rod Association Event at Sharon Speedway in Hartford. * This'll make you want to shout ... The 25th Anniversary of 'Animal House' Toga Party" will be at 9 p.m. Sept. 13 at Odeon Concert Club, 1295 Old River Road, Cleveland. The movie will be shown on a big screen, dance music will be played and, of course, there will be toga contests. Admission is $5.
* A Celtic influence is obvious in the music of Carbon Leaf, a Richmond, Va. band that will play Sept. 11 at O'Donold's Pub, 2774 Youngstown Road S.E., Warren. Next time you see a commercial on TV for the new Pontiac Vibe, listen closely -- that's Carbon Leaf's song in the background.
* There's no defying gravity next weekend. In conjunction with the Gravity Games, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland will be the site of "Gravity After Dark," featuring music by bands Cheap Vinyl and Chrome Kickers plus a DJ from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sept. 13. AHEAD
* Instead of Tower City Amphitheatre in Cleveland, the Wicked Wonka Tour -- featuring Insane Clown Posse, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Kottonmouth Kings and Tech N9ne -- will stop Sept. 17 at Scene Pavilion in the Flats. Previously purchased tickets will be honored. Tickets are still available for $35 at Ticketmaster outlets.
