TRUMBULL COUNTY United Way campaign will open with rally
The goal is to raise $2.5 million to fund 140 programs.
WARREN -- The United Way of Trumbull County will kick off its 2003 fund-raising campaign Thursday with a Rally by the River from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m.
The event, free and open to the public, will take place at the new Warren Community Amphitheater, 303 Mahoning Ave. downtown, and will feature live entertainment, agency displays and activities for the whole family. Food and beverage vendors also will be on hand.
The United Way plans to raise $2.5 million to fund more than 140 local health and human service programs in five key focus areas: strengthening families, enriching the lives of seniors, nurturing children, promoting health and wellness and providing emergency assistance.
Last year's campaign raised more than $2.4 million.
James L. Crouse of Howland, retired director of engineering at Delphi Packard Electric Systems, is this year's chairman, and Marybeth Cunningham, director of global production control and logistics and customer satisfaction at Delphi Packard, is vice chairman and chairman of the Second Century Society, a leadership giving program.
