Scrappers rained out
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers game against the Jamestown Jammers at Cafaro Field Monday night was rained out. The game will not be made up. Tonight, the Scrappers will play Jamestown at 7:05 p.m. Tickets from Monday's game can be exchanged for either tonight or Wednesday's season finale. Monday's post-game fireworks show, sponsored by Humility of Mary Health Partners, and Fan Appreciation Day, have been rescheduled for Wednesday. Also, Scrappers right-hander Honeudis Pereyra was named New York-Penn League pitcher of the week. Pereyra appeared in two games, allowing two hits and no runs in seven innings. He struck out 11 and walked one and earned his first save of the season. Pereyra has appeared in 21 games with a 1-1 record and 2.59 ERA.
Royer named to team
Youngstown State senior Colleen Royer was named to the Western New York All-Tournament Team after guiding the Penguins to a 3-2 record last weekend. Royer averaged 4.29 kills and 2.06 digs per game while hitting at a .309 clip for the tournament. She had 15 kills against Seton Hall and 21 against Niagara, recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs against Canisius and collected 11 kills against Syracuse.
