Police charge 3 people accused in Niles counterfeit purchase
NILES -- Three people appeared in municipal court this morning on charges of buying items from a department store with counterfeit money.
Police said Rahsan Seifullah, 28, and Jaime Boucher, 26, both of North Gate Drive, Youngstown, used counterfeit bills Wednesday evening to make two purchases totaling almost $900 from Kaufmann's in Eastwood Mall.
Reports indicate the pair made the purchases through Boucher's sister, Ryanne Boucher, 20, of Mahan-Denman Road, North Bloomfield, and then took the items to Kaufmann's in Southern Park Mall in Boardman to return them for cash.
When they received a credit slip, they returned to the Niles store Thursday morning and attempted to redeem it for cash. Store employees called police.
When Seifullah was arrested, reports said, he had roughly $2,000 more in fake bills in his wallet.
When police from Niles and Liberty searched the North Gate Drive residence, they recovered a copier, scanner and chemicals used to duplicate the bills, as well as more counterfeit money.
Seifullah was charged with two counts of criminal simulation and one count of theft, and Jaime Boucher was charged with one count of theft.
Ryanne Boucher was arrested on a complicity charge.
Another man, who has not been identified, also faces charges.
The U.S. Secret Service was notified of the case, and is expected to continue with the investigation, police said.
