Stuvaints signedto practice squad
PITTSBURGH -- Four rookies cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers over the weekend were signed Monday to their practice squad, including former Youngstown State standout Russell Stuvaints.
Stuvaints, an honorable mention All-Gateway Conference selection last year and a second-team pick as a junior, played four seasons for the Penguins.
He recorded 194 tackles in his career, including 91 his senior season. He was also an honorable mention All-American as a junior.
The 6-foot, 208-pound safety played linebacker for YSU.
Also returning to the Steelers were running back Dante Brown, defensive lineman David Upchurch and fullback J.T. Wall.
All were free agents except for Wall, the team's seventh-round draft pick.

COLUMBUS -- City police cracking down on alcohol violations issued 80 tickets, summonses or arrests on Saturday to tailgaters in the streets and parking lots immediately surrounding Ohio Stadium as Ohio State opened its season against Washington.
