FOOD SALES AND DINNERS



FRIDAY
XChili dinners will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, prior to the Columbiana Clippers home football game. The cost is $4 for adults and $2.50 for children under 10. Chili will also be sold for $4 a quart, and hot dogs will also be available.
XHoly Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will be selling potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide containers.
XOur Lady of Mount Carmel Church Guild in Niles will sell regular, potato and spinach pizza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school annex, 381 Robbins Ave. Advance orders are being accepted at (330) 652-2811 until 10 a.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.
XPotato pirogi will be sold at St. Anne Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown. Call (330) 799-0084 from 1 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 a.m. Friday. Cost is $3.75 per dozen. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; patrons may provide their own containers and are asked to use the side entrance. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
XSt. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.
XSt. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will be baking Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at (330) 788-0025 between 8 and noon only. Pickup will be until 1 p.m.
XSt. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to (330) 542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
SATURDAY
XCreamed chicken and biscuit dinners will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, 140 E. Broadway, Girard. Meals will be $6.50 for adults and $3.25 for those 5 to 12. Children under 5 will be free, and carryouts will be available.
XQueen of the Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna, will hold a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will include mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread and butter, dessert and beverage. XVFW Post 3307 Auxiliary will serve a spaghetti dinner from 2 to 7 p.m. at the post home, 1351 Albert St., Youngstown. The dinner will include meatballs, salad and bread. Cost will be $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children. Containers will be provided for carryouts.
SUNDAY
XCapt. Charles M. Marino Post 3, Italian-American War Veterans, 113 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $5.50 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 10. Those under 6 may eat for free. Carryouts also will be available to patrons providing their own containers.
XSt. Joseph Church Men's Club, 4545 New Road, Austintown, will sponsor a pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals are $3.50 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12.
XSt. Jude Youth Ministry will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at St. Jude Activity Center, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 3 to 12. Proceeds will go toward the group's trip to the National Catholic Youth Conference in Houston.
XSt. Rocco's Episcopal Church will serve spaghetti and cavatelli dinners from noon to 4 p.m. in the parish hall, 239 Trumbull Ave., Liberty Township. Adult dinners are $6, and children's are $3 for those 6 to 12. Meals are free to those 5 and under. Carryouts will be available to patrons providing their own containers, or a container will be provided for 50 cents.
XSt. Rose Church, Main Street, Girard, will serve pancake breakfasts from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Meals include scrambled eggs, sausage and beverage. The cost is $4 for adults, $2.50 for children 4 to 12 and free for those 3 and under.
TUESDAY
XHubbard VFW 3767 Auxiliary, 710 W. Liberty St., will serve homemade soup, chili, sandwiches and side dishes from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For information call (330) 534-9775.

XThere will be a chicken barbecue Sept. 13 at the Beaver Township Fire Station. Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased from firefighters for $7 for general admission and $4 for children 12 and younger. Tickets at the door will cost $8 for adults and $5 for children. The menu will include baked potato, green beans, salad, bread, apple dumplings and a beverage. XNorth Bloomfield United Methodist Church, corner of Routes 45 and 87, will sponsor a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 12. The menu also will include vegetables, salad bar and homemade desserts. There will be a freewill offering.
XTod Avenue United Methodist Church United Methodist Women will hold an English High Tea at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the church, 155 Tod Ave. Traditional foods and English tea will be served. XPost and auxiliary members of VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve spaghetti dinners with salad, bread, and coffee or tea from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. Carryout dinners are $5.25.
