SHARON Highways are open for Labor Day travelers



SHARON, Pa. -- Good news for motorists traveling through Mercer County over the Labor Day weekend.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said all lanes of Interstate 80 and Interstate 79 will be open.
However, westbound lane restrictions will resume on Tuesday as work continues on concrete repair and paving near the I-79 interchange between mile posts 21 and 18. There is a potential for heavy traffic congestion there.
Some restrictions will resume Tuesday on I-79 as well, as paving work goes on all next week.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane north and one lane south between mile posts 112 and 117 (I-80 interchange, between mile posts 122 and 127, as well as between mile posts 131 and 136.
The work on I-79 and I-80 will continue through the construction season.
PennDOT also warned that U.S. Route 62 between Zahniser Road and Mercer Borough will have lane restrictions all next week for paving and other repairs.
Finally, the state will be doing milling and other road work on both Pa. Route 18 and Route 358 in the Greenville area all next week. There will be lane restrictions, and congestion is likely.
