Newton Falls earns first victory; Maplewood cruises past Raiders

NEWTON FALLS -- Cassey Piquet, Kortni Collins and Angela Moralas each scored a goal Saturday as the Newton Falls High girls soccer team blanked Rootstown, 3-0.
Heather Martin had two assists and Mary Jo Spletzer had one for the Tigers (1-3-2).
Goalkeeper Grace Spletzer made four saves. Newton Falls had eight shots on goal compared to four for Rootstown.
Boys
WARREN -- Brian Hivick had four goals and an assist and Ronaldo Smith added three goals and three assists to lead the Maplewood boys soccer team to an 11-4 win over Warren Harding.
Jon Arnio had two goals while Rob Booth and Matt Wilson had one for the Rockets (3-0). Chaz Rice added an assist.
Dustin Slusher made 18 saves for the Rockets while Anthony Nuzzi had 18 saves for Harding.
Beaver Local 5, Crestview 0
LISBON -- Josh Dalrymple and Shawn Dunn each scored two goals for Beaver Local (5-0). Andy Lubich also scored for the Beavers.
Crestview is 2-2.
