LEETONIA -- The Leetonia Parks Artisans committee has vendor spaces available for the 21st annual artisans festival Sept. 21 at Wick Park.
Spaces are $50 for a 15-foot-by-15-foot area. Antiques and collectibles dealers and artisans buy space and then offer their items for sale to festival visitors.
Proceeds from the annual event fund park maintenance and improvement projects. Last year about 100 artisans and dealers registered to participate.
Besides offering items for sale, artisans demonstrate how they make their wares, such as pottery, glassware, wood crafts and woven items.
Jenn Valentine, one of the event organizers, said several of the artisans have participated in the festival from the beginning and return each year.
One such group is the Youngstown Weavers Guild. Group members show the various stages of producing woolen items, including a sheep-shearing demonstration with primitive shears.
Expanded offerings
Last year was the first in which antiques and collectibles dealers participated in the festival.
The festival also includes sale of food by local vendors and civic clubs, and musical entertainment throughout the day. There is also an antique and classic car show, and activities for children. The park festival also generates funds with an auction at the end of the day. The various artists and others who buy space at the festival donate items for the auction.
