NEW YORK -- Mike Mussina gave up two quick runs, then watched his teammates rally for five in the first off rookie Neal Cotts (1-1). Mussina (15-7) won for the fifth time in six decisions, giving up three runs and eight hits in six innings. Mariano Rivera got four outs for his 29th save in 35 chances. Carl Everett had four hits and three RBIs for Chicago.
Royals 6, Rangers 5, 11 innings
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mike Sweeney singled in the winning run in the 11th inning to help Kansas City regain first place and overcome two homers by Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod's two solo shots tied him with Barry Bonds for the major league lead with 39 homers.
Athletics 6, Orioles 4
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Adam Melhuse hit a three-run homer and John Halama pitched into the seventh inning as Oakland won its sixth straight. Scott Hatteberg led off Oakland's four-run first inning with a homer against Rodrigo Lopez (6-9). Mark Ellis later added an RBI triple as the AL West-leading A's cruised to their 10th win in 12 games.
Devil Rays 3, Mariners 2
SEATTLE -- Toby Hall homered in the ninth inning. Seattle's Bret Boone tied it at 2 with a solo shot in the eighth off Travis Harper (3-7), but Hall connected with two outs against Shigetoshi Hasegawa (1-1). It was only the fifth time Hasegawa has allowed a run in 53 appearances this season.
Twins 6, Angels 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Jacque Jones hit a two-run homer to back Kyle Lohse. Matthew LeCroy and Luis Rivas also drove in two runs apiece for the Twins. Lohse (11-10) won for the fifth time in six starts, allowing a run, five hits and five walks in 62/3 innings. Ramon Ortiz (15-11) allowed five runs -- three earned -- and six hits in seven-plus innings.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Brewers 4, Reds 3, 10 innings
CINCINNATI -- Bill Hall's two-run homer in the 10th inning gave Milwaukee its 10th straight victory. Geoff Jenkins homered in his fourth consecutive game for Milwaukee but left with what was likely a season-ending thumb injury. The Brewers' winning streak is their longest since joining the National League in 1998 -- the last time they won more than 10 in a row was during their club-record 13-game run in 1987.

MONTREAL -- Javier Vazquez extended his scoreless streak to 26 innings and Vladimir Guerrero homered as Montreal finished a four-game sweep of Philadelphia. A crowd of 20,030 saw Montreal complete its third four-game sweep this season, and second in a row at Olympic Stadium. The Expos have won nine straight home games, and five in a row overall.

DENVER -- Preston Wilson hit a grand slam, Jason Jennings pitched seven innings and Colorado snapped a five-game losing streak. Wilson connected off Jim Brower in the seventh for his career-best 32nd homer. Wilson drove in five runs, boosting his major league-leading RBI total to 126, also a career high.
Mets 3, Braves 1
ATLANTA -- Jose Reyes became the youngest player in modern major league history to homer from both sides of the plate. Reyes connected right-handed against Mike Hampton leading off the fifth and added a two-run shot from the left side off Trey Hodges in the ninth. Al Leiter (13-7) allowed two hits in seven shutout innings for the Mets.
Cardinals 3, Cubs 2
ST. LOUIS -- Kerry Robinson hit his first home run of the year, connecting for a leadoff shot in the bottom of the ninth inning. Robinson hit a 3-2 pitch from Mike Remlinger (5-5) over the right-center field wall. Reliever Mike DeJean (5-7) pitched 1 2-3 hitless innings to earn his first win since Milwaukee traded him to St. Louis last week. Sammy Sosa homered for the Cubs. Robinson also had an RBI double and Scott Rolen homered for the Cardinals.
Dodgers 6, Astros 3
HOUSTON -- Eric Gagne earned his 44th straight save of the season, setting a major league record. Jeromy Burnitz homered and drove in three runs as the Dodgers ended a four-game losing streak. Gagne beat Tom Gordon's 1998 record of 43 in a row to begin a season. Gordon still holds the record for consecutive saves overall, with 54. It was Gagne's 52nd straight save, dating to last season. Paul Shuey (5-4) entered in the fifth and pitched 11/3 hitless innings for the win. Tim Redding (8-13) allowed four runs on six hits and a pair of walks in only three innings.
