TRUMBULL COUNTY Commissioners to approve abatements for 3 companies



The expansions could create 13 jobs.
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners were expected to approve tax abatements today for three companies planning to invest a total of $2.7 million in the area.
In each case, the companies are seeking a 10-year reduction in property taxes that would normally be collected on new or improved buildings, equipment and inventory. The largest portion of property taxes go to support local school districts.
Last week, Brookfield Township trustees approved a 60-percent tax abatement for Specialty Strip and Oscillating Inc., 1451 Standard Ave.
The steel service center plans to invest $1.1 million on a new piece of equipment. Company officials say they will add two or three employees within a few months after the machinery is installed.
Three employees work at the site.
Warren City Council has approved a 75-percent, 10-year abatement for a $1.1 million expansion of Charles Manufacturing Co., at 3021 Sferra Ave. N.W.
With the expansion and purchase of new equipment, the company expects to add five employees to its work force of 13.
Council also has approved a 75-percent, 10-year abatement for a $545,000 expansion at Perfection Plastics Inc., 1160 Paige Ave.
The company has pledged to add five employees to its work force of 38 permanent and seven temporary employees.
