Officials reschedulepaving of roads for '04
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two roads that had been scheduled to be paved this year by the Mahoning County Engineer's Office will not be done until next year.
McClurg Road, from South Avenue to Market Street in Boardman, was not paved because of other construction being done on South Avenue and because of construction of the St. Elizabeth Health Center facility at McClurg and Market.
Tippecanoe Road, from U.S. Route 224 to Leffingwell Road in Canfield Township, was not done because of waterline construction along Tippecanoe.
Marilyn Kenner, chief deputy engineer, said those two roads will be paved as part of the county's 2004 paving program.
Mohawk district joinsAdopt-A-School program
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Mohawk School District became the sixth of the eight county school districts to participate in the Adopt-A-School program offered by Matthew Mangino, Lawrence County district attorney.
The programs focus on drugs and alcohol and are planned through Nov. 26.
Adopt-A-School started three years ago in the county and has been held at Shenango, Wilmington, Ellwood City, Neshannock, and Union school districts.
Fair exhibitors to meet
LISBON -- A meeting for anyone who wants to be an exhibitor at the 2004 Columbiana County Fair will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Community Action Agency, 7880 Lincole Place.
Prospective first-time exhibitors as well as past exhibitors are welcome to attend.

Recognition for report
LISBON -- Lisbon schools have received recognition from the Association of School Business Officials for the preparation and issuance of its fiscal year end 2002 comprehensive annual financial report.
The school district received a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.
ASBO officials said the national award is a sign of a district's sound principals and reporting procedures that is recognized by accounting professionals, underwriters, securities analysts, bond rating agencies, state and federal agencies and education, teacher and citizens groups.
Antiques appraisal
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls will host its second antiques and collectibles appraisal event from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Beaver Falls High School common area.
General admission is $5, which includes one free appraisal. Each additional appraisal is $5. Tickets can be bought at the library, 1301 Seventh Ave. or at the door.
Guns stolen from home
FARRELL, Pa. -- Four handguns and a shotgun were stolen in a burglary of a home in the 600 block of New Castle Road.
Police were unable to determine how entry was made to the building.
A Browning Hi Power 9 mm pistol, a Colt National Match .45-caliber pistol, a Colt Police .38 Special, a Smith & amp; Wesson model 66 .357-caliber handgun, and an SKB Over and Under 12-gauge shotgun model 605 were taken.
The burglary occurred Thursday but wasn't reported by police until Monday.
