Man faces charges in several robberies



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- George Edward Joseph, 20, of North Mercer Street was arrested in one robbery and faces charges in four others.
Neshannock Police Chief Philip Carlo said Joseph was arrested Saturday on a warrant charging him in the Oct. 21 robbery of Hy-Way Oil, a convenience store on Wilmington Road. He was arraigned on charges of robbery, receiving stolen property, theft and recklessly endangering another person.
Carlo said charges against Joseph are also pending in a robbery of J & amp; M Mini Mart on Mercer Road in the township on Oct. 18.
New Castle police said Joseph also is a suspect in two robberies at the Red Apple Quick Fill on Wilmington Road on Oct. 13 and Oct. 16, and an Oct. 20 robbery at Tic Toc Food Mart on Highland Avenue. Charges of robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were to be filed against Joseph today in those crimes, police said.
He is in Lawrence County jail after failing to post $50,000 bond on the first set of Neshannock Township charges.
