NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield Township trustees will have an informational meeting on township sewer projects at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Petersburg Fire Station No. 22.
Representatives from Mahoning County's Board of Health and the county sanitary engineer's department will be there to address residents' concerns.
Pa. man recoversfrom West Nile virus
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A 36-year-old Lawrence County man diagnosed with West Nile virus has recovered. Richard McGarvey of the state health department said the man was never hospitalized.
The man was among four new cases reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. He is the fourth person in Lawrence County to contract the disease. The others, two 75-year-old men and a 30-year-old man, also have all recovered.
Library program
EAST PALESTINE -- A Halloween program of stories and activities will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East Palestine Memorial Public Library.
Children are invited to wear Halloween costumes.
Window shot out
SALEM -- Police discovered that a BB or pellet gun was used to shoot out the window of Great American Vacations, a downtown business at 460 E. State St.
The crime was discovered at 2:09 a.m. Sunday.
Meeting on zoning
NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township Zoning Commission will have a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the township administration building, 11999 South Ave., to discuss amending the township zoning map.
The township areas open for discussion will include the highlands subdivision off Market Street and the Pine Lake region.
Information on the map amendments is available for public inspection at the zoning department during regular business hours.
Man held in county jailon drug charges
SHARON, Pa. -- Leroy Anderson Jr., 63, of South Oakland Avenue, remained in Mercer County jail today on $5,000 bond after his arrest on drug charges.
Anderson was picked up in the 800 block of Spearman Avenue around 9 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging him with possession and sale of crack cocaine.
He is accused of selling the drug to an undercover agent on Thursday.
Police said they found another rock of suspected crack and drug paraphernalia on Anderson when he was arrested.
Assault charge
SHARON, Pa. -- David A. Matlock, 18, of Quinby Street, remained in Mercer County jail today on $35,000 bond after his arrest on an aggravated assault charge.
Matlock was picked up hiding behind an entertainment center in a house in the 400 block of Ohio Street around 5 p.m. Friday.
Police said he is accused of stabbing a 16-year-old Spearman Avenue boy in the abdomen during a fight at Budd Street and New Castle Avenue around 4 p.m. Oct. 20. The 16-year-old was hospitalized for several days after the fight.
