BOYS
DIVISION II
Mooney (18-0-1) vs.Alliance (10-5-4)
When: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ravenna High Stadium.
Scouting report: Mooney defeated Canfield 4-3 in overtime to win the district on senior Christo Frangopoulos' goal. The defending state champions have a 36-match unbeaten streak (35-0-1) and are ranked first in Ohio and seventh in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Junior Kiki Willis has 48 goals this year and is eighth all-time in Ohio with 114 for his career. Frangopoulos has 56 career assists, ninth-best in state history. Junior goalie Jeff Seddon has eight shutouts. The Cardinals start as many freshmen (Kyle Buxman, Dom DiPasquale and Alecko Frangopoulos) as seniors (Jon Freaney and D.J. Myers). Making its third straight trip to the regional, Mooney is coached by Lenny Krispinsky (120-84-18).
Alliance defeated Marlington 2-1 in the district championship game. Ferruccio Valmarin and Matt Paidas scored in the first half for the Aviators. Dustin Brown had an assist and goalie Dan Hisev turned away six shots. Alliance is the third consecutive Metro Athletic Conference team to face Mooney in the playoffs.

Regional final: 7 p.m. Saturday at Ravenna.
DIVISION III
Champion (18-1)vs. Gates Mills Hawken (17-1-1)
When: 7 p.m. Tuesday at West Branch High School.
Scouting report: Champion beat Ursuline 2-1 to win the district. The Flashes were ranked fifth in the final poll of the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association. Junior John Emery scored in the first half and Adam Lantz made it 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining for the Flashes who last were in the regional in 1997. Emery has 30 goals this year. Senior Tim Oswald assisted on Emery's goal. Senior goalie Jason Black has 14 shutouts and senior midfielder Mike Harrison has 10 goals this season. The Flashes' lone loss was to Hubbard. Champion is coached by Nate Mailach, in his second year.
Hawken blanked Wickliffe 6-0 to take the Eastlake district. The Hawks are led by senior Marshall Plow, who scored four times to give him a school-record 48 this year and 98 in his career. Hawken was ranked fourth.
Other semifinal: Elyria Catholic (9-7-2) vs. CVCA (17-0-2), 7 p.m. Tuesday at Westlake.
Regional final: 7 p.m. Saturday at Lyndhurst Brush.
GIRLS
DIVISION I
Austintown Fitch (13-4-2)vs. Walsh Jesuit (17-0-1)
When: 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Scouting report: The Falcons defeated North Canton Hoover 5-2 Saturday to win their first-ever district championship. Top scorers for the Falcons are sophomore Jodi Bowlen (23 goals, 10 assists) and senior Kelly Croysdale (17 goals, seven assists). Bowlen scored eight goals in the district tournament alone. Sophomore Brittney Getz has 10 goals and senior Sarah Vaughn has seven assists. Senior Danielle Storey has been solid in midfield and goalie Kristi Brendlinger is just a sophomore. Sophomore sweeper Erica Bortmas suffered an injury to her spinal column last week and is out for the tournament. Fitch has won four straight matches and is coached by Carlo Trafficante.
Walsh Jesuit got a goal from sophomore Brianna Martinez in the first 18 seconds to beat Parma Padua 4-1 and win their sixth district title. The Warriors are fourth-ranked in Ohio. Senior Kristen Persichini, junior Tierney Lanich and freshman Kathleen Callahan also scored against Padua. Dino McIntyre is the Walsh Jesuit coach.
Other semifinal: Mentor (15-2-2) vs. Hudson (15-2-2), 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lyndhurst Brush.
Regional final: 3 p.m. Saturday at Cleveland State.
DIVISION II
Poland (14-3-2)vs. Chagrin Falls (14-4-2)
When: Wednesday 7 p.m. at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
Scouting report: The Bulldogs handed Hubbard a 4-1 setback to win the district, a title the Eagles had won three straight seasons. In 2002 Poland advanced to the Div. I regional. Senior Britt Davis scored four times against Hubbard, three times off assists by senior Emily Sutcliffe. Davis has 14 goals this year. Bulldog Krista Ginnetti was selected the district player of the year. Landry Yankle handles the goalie chores. Poland is coached by Jim Sutman who has five trips to the regional now.
Leah Grimm scored three goals and Kasey Stever added two more as Chagrin Falls defeated West Branch 5-1 to win the district. Kat Powers had two saves in goal.
Other semifinal: Bay Village Bay (15-4) vs. Shaker Heights Laurel (16-1) Wednesday 7 p.m. at Strongsville.
Regional final: 3 p.m. Saturday at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
