NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Effective Monday, South Mercer Street will be closed from Market Way to South Street for repairs.
Motorists will be able to enter Mercer Street from Taylor Street to get to the Central Building and Joseph's Supermarket.
They also will be able to use South Street from Pa. Route 18 to get to the Eagle's Club and Joseph's Supermarket.
Mayor Timothy Fulkerson said they are hoping the street will reopen in about three weeks.
He said they plan to work on storm sewers and utilities on the road.
Flu shots postponed
Flu shot clinics scheduled for Tuesday at the Knights of Columbus in Greenville and Thursday at the Reynolds VFW have been postponed because of a late shipment of the vaccine.
The clinic scheduled for Wednesday at the Salvation Army in Sharon will take place as planned.
The clinics are sponsored by UPMC Horizon, the Primary Health Network and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. For more information, call (724) 342-3002.
Wrestler to speak at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Mick Foley, best known to professional wrestling fans as "Cactus Jack," "Mankind," or "Dude Love," will talk about his life in wrestling at Slippery Rock University on Nov. 5.
The talk begins at 8 p.m. in the University Union and admission is free for SRU students and $3 for the public. The talk is sponsored by the university program board.
Foley is the best-selling author of "Have a Nice Day," his autobiography released in December 1999.
2 men face charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested and jailed two city men, ages 21 and 22, after finding loaded handguns under their car at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
Police said they noticed two men drinking alcohol in a car at Pasadena and South avenues.
When police approached the car, the men got out of the vehicle and squatted on each side. Police found the weapons, a .45-caliber with seven live rounds, and a 9 mm with 16 live rounds, under the car.
Both men were charged with carrying concealed weapons and possession of marijuana.
In addition, the 22-year-old was charged with having weapons under disability because of a past weapons conviction and consumption of alcohol, police said.
