Penguin power reigns at event

Youngstown State University's Homecoming 2003 is highlighted by the unveiling of 30 fiberglass penguins during the Homecoming parade and the crowning of Homecoming king and queen. Above, Weston Keough, 11, of Shelton, Neb., rests on one of the 5-foot-tall penguins that were on a float during the parade Saturday. Weston's father transported the penguins from Nebraska to Youngstown by truck. The statues will soon grace various locations in the Youngstown area as part of a collaboration between YSU and the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. At left, Jonathan Zacharias of Canada escorts Krista Kovach of Canfield across the field after they were crowned king and queen at halftime of the YSU-Illinois State football game. Game story, C1.
