Malone retiring as coach after 46 years

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) -- Hamilton Badin football coach Terry Malone, who has a 359-117-8 record in 46 years at Hamilton Catholic and Badin High School, is retiring.
Malone said this week that his last game will be Saturday night's season finale against North College Hill.
"I'm tired of studying tapes, I'm tired of making game plans, I'm tired of making decisions during games," said Malone, who is 70. "I'm just tired of it. Everything's old."
Badin is 2-7, including one forfeited victory because of an ineligible player.
"I don't have any regrets," Malone said. "It's just time."
Most-winning coach
Malone is Ohio's most-winning coach and ranks 10th nationally, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Malone has had just five losing seasons, including three in the past four years.
Badin captured its lone state championship in 1990, beating Richfield Revere 16-6 in the Division III title game. The Rams have qualified for the playoffs 16 times.
"It's kind of been a relief," Malone said of his decision to retire. "I don't have that drive anymore. With the combination of age and since my wife died a couple years ago, I just don't have that drive.
"I don't think I'll miss it. We'll find out."
