Baby hospitalized after vehicle hits stroller

YOUNGSTOWN -- A small child was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center on Saturday afternoon after being hit by a car while in a stroller crossing Market Street.
According to police, the unidentified baby and mother were crossing at Market and Princeton streets when the stoplight changed to green on Market Street and cars begin to move.
Police said a vehicle driven by a woman hit the stroller throwing it several feet and tossing the child, who was still strapped in a baby carrier, across the pavement.
Witnesses said the baby was conscious and appeared to be OK before being taken to the hospital by an ambulance. No information was available from the hospital on the child's condition.
Police said the car was traveling between 5 and 10 miles per hour when the stroller was hit.
