AREA COLLEGES Davis helps Thiel pummel Bethany; Hiram snaps skid

Edinboro had no problem with Slippery Rock, 20-3.
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Kennard Davis returned two interceptions and a kickoff for touchdowns Saturday, leading Thiel over Bethany, 42-14.
The Tomcats (2-5, 1-4 Presidents' Athletic Conference) led 28-14 at the half and were given a healthy cushion by Davis, who scored the only two touchdowns in the second half.
Bethany scored first, but was answered by Davis, who returned the ensuing kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Davis, in the third quarter, picked off a pass from Brian Wineberg on the Tomcats' 1-yard line, running 99 yards for a touchdown.
In the fourth quarter, Davis intercepted Sean Yanni and ran 24 yards for the score.
Bethany (0-8, 0-5) scored first on a 31-yard touchdown pass by quarterback Brian Wineberg and again in the first quarter on a rush by Wineberg.
Hiram 34, Kenyon 7
HIRAM -- Tim Anderson rushed for a school-record 224 yards as the Terriers snapped a 21-game losing streak.
Hiram quarterback Max Kravitz threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns, while freshman John Papacostas scored three times.
Hiram (1-6) won for the first time since beating Oberlin College on Oct. 13, 2001.
Kenyon (2-6) has lost four straight.
Kravitz was 14-for-24 passing, while Anderson got his 224 yards on 38 carries.
Edinboro 20, Slippery Rock 3
EDINBORO, Pa. -- Brandon Munson rushed for 149 yards to lead the Edinboro ground game.
The win means the Fighting Scots (6-2, 3-1 PSAC-West) will post their first winning season since 1996.
Edinboro scored on two field goals by Kody Robertson in the first quarter, and with time running out in the first half, scored on a 17-yard fumble recovery by Thomas Wallace.
The Fighting Scots scored again on a 42-yard pass from Matt McAdams to Justin Lipscomb in the third quarter.
The Rockets (3-5, 1-2) scored in the second quarter on a 45-yard field goal by John Katsaouni.
Raji El-Amin, Chris Avery and Jermaine Truax each recorded an interception for Edinboro, as the Fighting Scots limited the Rockets to 188 total yards.
Allegheny 37, Denison 0
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Senior quarterback Bubba Smith threw a short touchdown pass in the first quarter to break Allegheny's all-time completion record and lead the Gators to the shutout.
Allegheny (4-3, 4-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) scored early on the Smith pass to Marko Fonsi and then pulled away on three short touchdown runs by Jamie Sye.
Smith finished the game completing 27-of-36 passes for 361 yards.
Smith tied the school's all-time passing touchdown record at 48. Also on Saturday, receiver Jon Turner broke the school record for receiving yardage with 1,813 career yards.
He caught nine passes for 137 yards.
Denison (2-5, 1-2) was led by Phil Bouwhuis, who rushed 10 times for 53 yards.
Urbana 48, Malone 17
URBANA -- Freshman Wymon Parham scored touchdowns covering 17, 10 and 11 yards to lead the Blue Knights (3-5, 2-1).
Mac Griffin hit Nyrell Knight and Adam Capretta with touchdown passes covering 7 and 22 yards, respectively, for Malone (2-5, 0-3).
Griffin was 12-for-26 passing for 151 yards.
Sean Knight rushed 18 times for 112 yards for Malone.
Parham ran 13 times for 118 yards. As a team Urbana grounded out 353 yards on 48 attempts.
Baldwin-Wallace 35, Muskingum 17
NEW CONCORD -- Dan Larlham threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores to ignite the Baldwin-Wallace attack.
Larlham's 42-yard run in the second quarter put the Yellow Jackets (6-1, 5-1 Ohio Conference) up 13-10, and he led the team with 108 yards on 11 carries.
He finished 15-for-25 passing, connecting with Mark Anders on an 80-yard scoring pass in the second quarter and with Nate Wilder for a 4-yard TD in the third.
Matt Shaul threw for 104 yards and two touchdowns, completing 11-of-16 passes, with one interception for the Muskies (5-1, 4-1). He had scoring passes of 19 yards to Josh Fritz in the first quarter and 5 yards to Andy Weiss in the fourth.
Muskingum's Trevor Cooper led all rushers with 116 yards on 19 carries.
Shippensburg 13, Clarion 0
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Frank Duffy returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown and Shippensburg held Clarion to 70 total yards.
With Shippensburg holding a 7-0 lead late in the first half, Duffy picked off a Brad Reifsnyder and took it to the end zone for a 13-0 advantage.
Shippensburg (6-2, 3-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West) throttled Clarion's offense, giving up only 49 yards rushing and 21 yards passing.
Marcus Lowe carried eight times for 56 yards for Clarion (1-7, 0-3). Three Clarion quarterbacks combined to go 3-for-11 and were sacked three times.
Wilmington 37, Marietta 31
WILMINGTON -- Ricky Shifko passed for four touchdowns, the final one coming on a 13-yarder to Ryan Howell with 25 seconds left, to lead Wilmington.
Shifko was 28-of-45 for 283 yards as the Quakers (1-6, 1-5 Ohio Conference) got their first win. Trae Tate carried 26 times for 154 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run.
