Notable players: Quarterback Jeff Morris was a four-year starter at Muskingum College and lineman Anthony Sliman received a full-ride to Akron. Other seniors who played in college included Jeff Grove (Baldwin-Wallace), Kyle Doak (Findlay), Jeremy Stephens (Muskingum), Dominic Panezott (Allegheny) and Todd Schoeni (Allegheny).
Notebook: The title was the first for a Mahoning County public school. The attendance for both the state semifinal against Steubenville (9,665) at Fawcett Stadium and the state championship game against Clyde (12,548) at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium remain among the highest in state history for Division III. The only games with higher attendances were part of doubleheaders. ... Jeff Morris' 75-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Doak remains the longest scoring pass play in Div. III championship game history.
